Playthrough and intro video
As you may have noticed, Evil God is not a regular clicker, it involves a little of strategy to make sure you have a stable and growing production to reach higher levels. So there are four main elements you have to consider to play this game:
1. Might. This is your main resource, you must gather enough might to acquire more followers but having lots of might doesn't mean you are a high level god nor that your progress in game is granted. There are several ways of increasing the might you gain: bonuses, bigger spells, and reaching higher levels, all of these will increase in a percentage or a fixed value the reward in might you obtain from casting spells.
Might is shown over the Spells Casted. You can see your current available might as well as your accumulated might over all your gameplay.
2.Faith. As in every religion, faith grants their gods or pastors or whatever they have to become mightier, you can think is a satire but if fits great with the mechanic. You need your followers to have faith in you, the more faith they have the migther you will become since faith is used to complete horrible or imp spells that appear as images in Evil God and you click over this images to earn might when filled up with your faith. Faith is either produced by your units or by you, the last is known as the permanent faith in your clicks.
Faith, God Level and your current count of Followers is shown over the map.
Important: You may see you have a high amount of faith but some of it belongs to your faith per click and some to your followers production. Be sure you have a good balance among them to keep a healthy and growing religion, you are basically deciding where to take your game based on your units and your bonuses.
3. Units. It's very important to have clear the three main groups of units that exist in the game: Base Units will grant you a constant production in faith, Incremental units have the capability of increasing their faith during time or by triggered or constant abilities, and Autospawn units that can cast other units to give you a constant flow of followers. Some other elements like Totems will act as extra bonuses or artifacts that affect other units by changing or complementing their abilities to keep pushing you forward in game. You will be able to identify each by the mechanics described in the parchment or papyrus that appear over the store when you select each purchasable item.
Although units are grouped in those three kinds they have several attributes that you must consider in order to build a combo or custom mechanic so you can reach higher levels. This information is shown in the papyrus or parchment.
Over the parchment you will read from top left to bottom right as follows:
a) Might required to summon the item identified with a lightning icon.
b) Item type. This is important since the type determines if some abilities or powers available in game affect or consider this particular item. For example: All humans gain +0.2% faith every 30 seconds, it means that every unit or item identified as Human will be consider in this rule.
c) Item name. The unique identifier for this item, you can refer to it by the name and some other units, powers and items may refer to it if they affect it.
d) Stats Texts. This lines are identified in yellow texts and describe the two main abilities the item has. In image above you can identify that this item will add +2 FAITH to your current faith production and that also spends 500 might for its second ability.
e) Item/Unit long description. This part sometimes shows a "flavor text" that tells you a small story about the item, followed by dash lines that enumerate and describe more complex abilities belonging to it.
f) Requirements or Prerequisites. This is the bottom-left text denoted as Requires and indicates what you must have or achieve before you can purchase this item.
So recalling above text and relating it with the parchment image we can conclude that: The unit cost 150,000 in might, that is a Human who adds +2 FAITH to your production and has a second main ability that spends 500 might for every cast it does. You can see also a small story about the unit and to be able to purchase it you must be at God Level 5.
4. God Level and Spell Level. The higher the level you reach the more units you will be able to acquire, this is how progression is delimited within the game. There's a difference between God Level and Spell Level. God Level indicates your current God character level and allows you to access more complex or valuable units as well as upgrades. Spell Level indicates your the current size and value for the spells you cast with your faith. This level increases every 10 God levels. Might reward from spells is also increased but not at the same rhythm, although it is increased you will feel it is not enough at some point and it becomes harder to earn because spells will require more faith to be casted. This is where your units become more important, you must build a set of units that is capable of completing spells as fast as possible without you needing to click that much and be aware of any bonus that may appear. You have also the option to use your God Powers to try to earn more might.
Basic Combos
If you are new into Evil God I recommend you to set the following units to keep your game growing.
Fanatic Zealot/Public Speaker. Try to fit 1 Fanatic Zealot per temple as well as 2 Public Speakers. This will grant a constant flow of victims for tor Fanatic. Public Speakers have no lifetime, so they will remain there forever and will cast a unit for as long as you have 500 might available to be spent in that unit.
Fanatic Zealot/Preacher. The same as before combo but in this case Acolytes summoned by preacher are free and Preacher last only 4 hours.
Fanatic Zealot/Preacher or Public Speaker/ Manual fed Skeletons. Preacher or Public speakers will keep the constant flow of units and you can manually send skeletons to be killed by the Fanatic Zealot, this will increase Fanatic's faith and also your faith per click permanently.
Fanatic Zealot/Public Speaker/Dark Pastor. This is one of my favorite combos, you'll be able to maintain a constant flow of Acolytes to be sacrificed but with a plus. In this case Dark Pastor increases is faith for the number of Acolytes in play plus he takes the sum of all of the Fanatic Zealots faith to be increased. So you get the base faith from your Zealots and then Dark Pastors will grant you the boost you need. If by any means there's a storm bonus near, you can always sacrifice your Dark Pastors and transform their faith into permanent faith per click.
I hope that with this couple of hints and combos you'll be able to create your own to max your faith production, increase your might and reach the highest level among your friends.
